Although many retail sites do a good job policing unnatural reviewing activity to combat review fake reviews and other forms of review fraud, it is in your best interest to monitor potentially concerning review patterns for your own products.

Some bad actors will do things like:

  • Post many negative reviews of a competitor’s product

  • Posting many positive reviews of their own product

  • Copy/paste the same review (negative or positive) across many retailers

REVIEWS.ai acts as your security guard cross-comparing meta-data points, like reviewer id and other labels to highlight concerning patterns. 🎉

The Saboteur report pinpoints reviewers and reviews with potentially suspicious activity.

This empowers you to then report these users to retailers who can then investigate. If content and reviewer activity violates the respective retailer’s community guidelines and/or terms of use, sometimes the suspicious reviews may be deleted and/or the user account suspended.

Note that the Saboteur report also identifies positive trends.

If a customer has written positive reviews for multiple of your products, the reviewer will be highlighted here. If the reviewer’s contact info is available, you could potentially reach out to this customer and evaluate their interest for being a brand ambassador for you.

To view reviews and reviewers with suspicious trends, go to REPORTS in the top banner navigation, then select Saboteur.

Use the search bar at the top to customize your Saboteur report by time frame and/or brand. Click CREATE to generate the report and CLEAR to reset the results.

The Saboteur report will now display all reviewers with potentially concerning activity, such as positive reviews for products labeled “competitor” and negative reviews for your products.

Click the expand icon next to a reviewer name in the table to see a summary of each review they have posted.

Details for each individual review can also be viewed by clicking the expand icon next to each review. From this view, the same standard content management options exist as explained in the article: View and Manage Reviews and Q&As. For example, you can click: "View Details" to see the review directly on the retailer site for further investigation.

Reviewers with multiple positive reviews are also listed in the report for your convenience.
